Can I keep my current POS system?
Depends on the brand. Square, Valor, and Dejavoo terminals can typically be reprogrammed to a new processor. Clover units are locked to the processor that sold them and can't be moved — if you're on Clover, switching means new hardware. We'll tell you which situation you're in before anything else happens.
What's the difference between interchange-plus and cash discount?
Interchange-plus passes through the card networks' real cost plus a fixed markup you can see. Cash discount shifts the processing cost to card-paying customers, so your rate approaches zero. Which is better depends on ticket size and customer mix.
How much does credit card processing cost?
There's no single rate, and anyone quoting one before seeing your statement is guessing. Your actual cost depends on monthly volume, average ticket size, transaction count, and card mix — a rewards credit card costs more to accept than a debit card, and swiped costs less than keyed. That's why we start with a statement review: we calculate your effective rate from real numbers instead of quoting a teaser.
